Once I wanted to be a visual artist, so I studied at the Koninklijke Academie (Royal Academy) in Den Bosch. Later I became acquainted with photography and discovered that was where my talent lay. I’ve had my own photographic studio since 1987. What I love about my work is the photographing of art, combined with the technical aspect of photography.
My studio has been certified by the Metamorfoze ABC project and is on the list of accredited preservation imaging companies. My work in the studio is mainly focused on the cultural sector.
I have worked as a photographer for the Rijksmuseum, since 2007, on the PK online project. This project aims to digitize all the prints and drawings owned by the Rijksmuseum and to publish them on the internet.
I am co-author of the Rijksmuseum’s manual for two-dimensional objects and have been involved in setting up the guidelines for digitizing, as guidance for all photography in the Rijksmuseum.
Gerrit Rietveld Academie
Previously I gave courses on photo technique at the Gerrit Reitveld Academie for a period of two years.
I worked on the Metamorfoze ABC project at the Nationaal Archief (National Archives) in The Hague, as an advisor on digitizing archives.
I give lectures and workshops on techniques for modern reproduction photography at several institutions.
It gives me great satisfaction to immerse myself in the ever advancing techniques for photographing artworks in the best possible way. I regard doing that with integrity and accuracy as a privilege.
